Fireworks in the park
Last weekend, we watched the firework display in Christchurch Park, a tradition that’s been going since 1972, started by the 11th Ipswich Scout Group with just £100 of fireworks. Now it’s a huge, family-friendly spectacle, run entirely by volunteers, with all profits going back into the community.
There’s something special about celebrating in our parks. And we do it so well!
Naming a few … Ipswich Music Day in Christchurch Park, One Big Multicultural Festival in Alexandra Park, Pams in the Park in Holywells Park, Apple day in Holywells Park and multiple free family fun days across multiple parks in Ipswich during summer holidays; Alexandra Park, Bourne Park, Murray Road Park.
Festivals like Bonfire Night, Halloween and even the ancient Celtic Samhain are all about light in the dark months, gathering with others and pausing to reflect before winter sets in. Standing among the crowds you really feel the magic of coming together and why our parks are so much more than just green spaces.
