Bourne Park, Ipswich

Bourne Park is on the south side of Ipswich, a short distance from Fox’s Marina and Suffolk Food Hall. It can be accessed just off Wherstead Road, near Fox’s Marina and the Suffolk Food Hall. It’s one of Ipswich’s wilder green spaces. It’s full of big trees, open grass and winding paths along the Bourne Stream. There are 2 play areas, football goals, an outdoor gym and a kiosk. You might catch a train passing by too. We love the mix of grassy spaces, winding paths and reed beds. It’s wilder than most of our parks, full of wildlife and open space to play.

There’s a small public car park near the main entrance. Walk through the big gates, there is a tree-lined path, two  play areas, a kiosk, football goals. It follows the Bourne Stream, surrounded by trees, open grassy areas and wild reed beds and meadows.

The Barn Owl Project
A conservation project in Bourne Park has been set up to protect the park’s reed beds and natural habitats to encourage barn owls. We’re told, the best time to see the owls is at dusk, flying over the reed beds.
